Creating portraits was my first introduction to the world of photography. From the first time I turned the camera around to look at the screen on the back …I was hooked! The ideal that what I created did not exist until that moment was such a novel concept to me. Today, that same sense wonder is the feeling I get when holding a camera.

Indoor Things.
“Indoor portrait photograpy was initially a very intimidating scenario for my novice photographer brain. All the lights; the fixed, blank canvas surrounding me; standing in front of a subject who is expecting you to know what you're doing at every moment. This is genuinely the stuff of nightmares! However, like all things in life, when you push through the fear and the analysis paralysis, a whole new world of opportunities awaits on the other side. The thing we fear most is usually the thing that ends up changing everything” – Anthony Maurice

Outdoor Things.
“I started portrait photography while living on a small island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. At that time, everybody shot outdoors. We were on an island; why wouldn't they!? Unbeknownst to me, the constant changing environment and complete uncertainty of whether it would rain or not set the tone for how I shoot today. Being able to adjust on the fly and rework a loosely laid out plan is a skill that I didn't know I needed. That is what you call kismet my friends.
